GIVING THANKS, EVEN IN DIFFICULT TIMES
We all know this part of year to be a time of giving thanks. But that can sometimes be difficult to do when it may have been a difficult year, other’s didn’t treat you right, or you don’t feel there is much to be thankful for. A different perspective may help.
If times were difficult, be thankful you learned endurance.
If people were frustrating, be thankful they taught you patience.
If money was tight, be thankful you learned to spend wisely.
If your children were immature, be thankful they reminded you what youth was like again.
If there seemed to be no end in sight, be thankful you learned to focus.
If you dealt with illness, be thankful you were taught to overcome.
If obstacles seemed never-ending, be thankful you found how to persevere.
If good things seemed so far off that you had trouble even seeing them, be thankful you had vision.
When I was younger, my my mother taught me that when I wish for the future I am wishing my life away. It took a long time to understand that. Perhaps it only makes sense when we become adults. Each day is precious, and in a flash will be gone.
Give thanks for what you have and use it to mold and shape yourself into a better person, so when the time comes to reflect back upon your journey, others will give thanks for the trail you blazed.
Wishing you the Happiest of Thanksgivings!
